Ζoe Tiganouria Tanguera "Tanguera" CD - Released Dec 2006 Tanguera | A few words from Zoë | Multimedia | Contact |
TangueraSenen months after the successful release of “Libertango”, Zoe Tiganouria returns with her new album: “Tanguera” (December 2006). Twenty one new mixes of well known themes from all around the world, a revolutionary melodic tour with the accordion as a narrator. The Reccording: it awakens the memories of the era of romance and the gramophone, maintains in a big grade the air of “old times”, transferring it dynamically to the present. The Themes: Argentina, Cuba, Greece, France, America… musical wanderings under the sounds of traditional music and works by widely known composers… “Por una Cabeza” by Carlos Gardel, “Tanguera” by Mariano Mores, “Serah” by Vasilis Tsitsanis, Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango”, Stamatis Kraunaki’s “To Trito Stefani”, “Corsica” by Petru Guelfucci, “And I love her” by John Lennon & Paul McCartney, John William’s “Schindler’ s List”, Richard Galliano’s “Valse a Margaux” etc. The Rhythms: latin, tango, bossa, samba, rumba, valse, swing and three symphonic pieces. The Musicians: the basis for the most tracks of the album was “Senso Latino”, a band of Cuban and Greek excellent musicians. Then, musicians from Argentina, Germany, Romania, Armenia and Greece… enriched the sound. The result was and is a homogenous sound with 21 compositions. The Accordion: it dominates… and becomes a song, a clarinet, a violin, a bandoneon… through the sensational vigor of Zoe Tiganouria – one of the most important virtuosos on this instrument in Greece. The “Tanguera”: a tanguera in Argentina is a woman who dances the tango with a strong desire… and maybe, in an extension of the dream, a woman with a burning desire to play the tango… and maybe, in a futher extension, Zoe herself… The production of this album is signed by the composer Alexander Karozas. I did not go to any concerts simply because none were held. But I did listen to my father play the violin, from the moment I was born. And music passed inside me by ear… and the dream. Firstly, a harmonium came to the island. A piano in Athens followed. Lessons were interposed, a journey, a degree in harmonics and counterpoint, the first jobs… The accordion was the last to come. A green accordion that was forgotten at home. With it, however, I found my way. I play… and the accordion touches my heart. It lets the body wholly partake in the production of sound and it sends out erotism, releasing something wild and, at the same time, sweet to the ear. I’ m growing up with it and I realize how harmoniously it binds to my character. And almost ten years have passed. The urges I had “locked up” inside me, found a way to be expressed as I have experienced the miracle of composing. And the accordion takes me from the Argentinean tango to Tsitsanis and from Hipiros to Cuba, transferring a music-cultural message from me. Music is not restricted. There are melodies that seem to belong to everyone. I dream of their passage through my art, so I study and make it come true. I keep my personal moments of inspiration and creation like the most precious and constantly try to make a small, but my very own, mark on music…” Zoë Tiganouriae-mail: zoe@karozas.gr top of page Multimedia top of page |
